Rovio WowWee Telepresence Robot

Evolution Robotics unveiled its NorthStar 2.0 system, which enables robots to be truly aware of their environment and perform everyday tasks with complete autonomy. The first product to use NorthStar will be WowWee Group Limited’s new Rovio telepresence robot.

WowWee, an Optimal Group company (NASDAQ:OPMR), is a leading designer, developer, marketer and distributor of innovative hi-tech consumer robotic and entertainment products.

Rovio WowWee Telepresence Robot

NorthStar works like a combination GPS, RADAR and autopilot system rolled into one. It’s designed to operate in everyday places like a home or office. So instead of showing you what exit to take on the highway, it guides your robot along a route that you establish, i.e. from your living room to a specific location in the kitchen. The system also represents a major breakthrough in price, coming in at 1/100th to 1/1000th the cost of equivalent systems used in research and industrial applications.

The list of new products in development includes:

– a new generation of intelligent floor care robots that clean better, faster and far more efficiently than any product currently on the market

– super smart toys that interact with kids at blazingly fast speeds and bring video game action to life into the real world

– telepresence robots (such as the new WowWee Rovio robot) that allow the user to connect to the home or office while away and check if everything is ok

With NorthStar, Rovio robot will be able to:

– let you drive the robot with shortcut “go-to” commands, (i.e. go to the kids’ room) to make it easy to control the robot remotely over the web or from your mobile phone

– operate in “patrol mode” and automatically send you pictures of specific locations you want to check, such as making sure your dogs have food in their bowl each morning, or that they weren’t sleeping on the living room couch again

– autonomously guide itself back on course if your kids pick it up and move it

– navigate to its charging station from anywhere in the house, and dock with pinpoint accuracy, when its batteries run low

Rovio telepresence robot will be available in the second half of 2008, at a retail price of $299. For more information and to see the latest WowWee products, please visit http://www.wowwee.com.

Contact lenses with circuits

Researchers at the University of Washington unveil a stunning contact lenses with … circuits. They declare that there are many possible uses for virtual displays like:

Drivers or pilots could see a vehicle’s speed projected onto the windshield. Video-game companies could use the contact lenses to completely immerse players in a virtual world without restricting their range of motion. And for communications, people on the go could surf the Internet on a midair virtual display screen that only they would be able to see.

Contact lenses with circuits

Looking through a completed lens, you would see what the display is generating superimposed on the world outside,” said Babak Parviz, a UW assistant professor of electrical engineering. “This is a very small step toward that goal, but I think it’s extremely promising.

The results were presented today at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ international conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems by Harvey Ho, a former graduate student of Parviz’s now working at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, Calif. Other co-authors are Ehsan Saeedi and Samuel Kim in the UW’s electrical engineering department and Tueng Shen in the UW Medical Center’s ophthalmology department.

Contact lenses with circuits

The prototype device contains an electric circuit as well as red light-emitting diodes for a display. The lenses were tested on rabbits for up to 20 minutes and the animals showed no adverse effects.

Deep Brain Stimulation for Depression

St. Jude Medical will begin enrollment in a controlled, multi-site, blinded, clinical study of deep brain stimulation for major depressive disorder, a severe form of depression.

Deep Brain Stimulation for Depression

In the U.S., more than 21 million adults suffer from some kind of depressive disorder, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Of these, only about 80 percent can be effectively treated with currently available therapies, according to the National Advisory Mental Health Council. Unfortunately, that means approximately 4 million adult Americans live with depression that does not respond to medications, psychotherapy and, in certain cases, electroconvulsive therapy.

The BROADEN (BROdmann Area 25 DEep brain Neuromodulation) study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of deep brain stimulation in patients with depression for whom currently-available treatments are not effective.

The Libra Deep Brain Stimulation System, which is being evaluated in this study, is designed to deliver mild electrical pulses from a device implanted near the collarbone and connected to small electrical leads placed at specific targets in the brain.

Deep Brain Stimulation

Major depressive disorder is severely disabling,” said Dr. Lozano. “Currently, there are no widely-accepted treatment options for patients with this condition once multiple medications, psychotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy have failed.

World’s Largest Solar Plant

Abengoa Solar has signed a contract with Arizona Public Service Co. (APS), one of Arizona’s leading energy utilities, to build, own and operate what would be the largest solar power plant in the world if operating today.

The plant, scheduled to go into operation by 2011, is located 70 miles southwest of Phoenix, near Gila Bend, Arizona. It will sell the electricity produced to APS over the next 30 years for a total revenue of around $4 billion, bringing over $1 billion in economic benefits to the state of Arizona.

World’s Largest Solar Plant

The solar plant has been named Solana, meaning “a sunny place” in Spanish. The Solana Generating Station will have a total capacity of 280 megawatts, enough to power 70,000 homes while avoiding over 400,000 tons of greenhouse gases that would otherwise contribute to global warming and climate change. The plant will employ a proprietary Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) trough technology developed by Abengoa Solar, and will cover a surface of around 1,900 acres. The construction of the Solana Generating Station will create about 1,500 construction jobs and employ 85 skilled full-time workers once completed.

Abengoa Solar has a team of 40 people in the United States and Spain dedicated to researching, developing and improving solar technologies. In December 2007, the U.S. Department of Energy selected Abengoa Solar for three research and developments projects to improve trough technology.

The construction of this solar plant and others under contract in the U.S. are subject to a long-term extension of the solar investment tax credit by the U.S. Congress.

Converting moving traffic into electricity

MagKinetics unveil a patent pending technology for converting moving traffic into electricity. They believe this practical and logical technology has the potential to solve a large portion of the world’s energy crisis. They are confident that if they can continue working with Physicists and Engineers to develop the technology further, this technology will lower Green house gas emissions, create unlimited electricity, create thousands of jobs and eliminate the need to alter the landscape as other renewable technologies require.

Converting moving traffic into electricity

The implementation of the technology for generating electricity is “built into the road itself.” “Without any modification to the traveling vehicle, driving options or personal freedoms, our technology can be used to produce clean, efficient, and substantial electrical energy from merely driving in the normal course,” said the inventor and business partner co-founder, Mark Nejmeh.

WIRELESS CAMERA HUNTER

The Wireless Camera Hunter is pretty good at looking for ‘em hidden cams. Nowadays you see a lot of pics on the Net showing girls in showers or explicit sexy home videos taken without their knowledge. Now you’ve got some leverage and its pretty comforting to know that you can prevent yourself from being a “One-Night-in-Paris-Hilton” Celebrity. Goes for a pretty steep $499.95 and I wished they included a rechargeable battery, sheesh.

This fearless Wireless Camera Hunter scans all commonly used Video Frequencies in less than 5 seconds and detects the video transmission. Then the Wireless Camera Hunter locks in sources from up to 500 Feet away (depending on power of source transmitter). The device allows the user to see what the Hidden Camera is seeing, making it easier to detect hidden video. Salt water fuel cars

Could salt water fuel cars? You may have heard about an invention created by a 63-year-old named John Kanzius that claims to create an alternative fuel out of salt water. Through sheer serendipity, Kanzius, a former broadcast engineer, found out something incredible -- under the right conditions, salt water can burn at high temperatures.

salt water burning Image courtesy WPBF-TV Yes, you're seeing water burn.

Kanzius' journey toward surprise inspiration began with a leukemia diagnosis in 2003. Faced with the prospect of debilitating chemotherapy, he decided he would try to invent a better alternative for destroying cancerous cells. What he came up with is his radio frequency generator (RFG), a machine that generates radio waves and focuses them into a concentrated area. Kanzius used the RFG to heat small metallic particles inserted into tumors, destroying the tumors without harming normal cells.

THEN WHAT ELSE YOU WANT NOW. OOOO I BELIVE YOU CAN MAKE OWN ELECTRICITY FOR YOUR HOME OFFICE INDUSTRY AND THE LIKE. OR FULL VIDEO BELOW 4000 volts unbelievable. All these days we are searching for energy but we have it 80% on this world.
